A craft beer brewing kit that fits just about any homebrew setup. This Helles Bock recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Helles Bock, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.
Helles Bock, also called Maibock, is the pale, strong lager of Bavarian spring. Where a traditional bock is dark and heavy, this version keeps the same warming strength but strips back the color, landing pale gold to light amber with a clean, malty punch. It was historically tapped in May, a stronger beer to mark the turn of the season.
The malt leads throughout: bready, lightly toasted, with a hint of the alcohol showing through at over 7 percent. Hopping is moderate, enough to keep the sweetness from running away, and the finish stays cleaner and drier than the beer's size would suggest. It is a bock for people who want the strength without the dark-malt weight.
Your Helles Bock recipe kit includes everything below, portioned and ready to brew. All you add is water.
Water treatment salts and any specialty extras are noted with the recipe.
