Chocolate and cinnamon have been keeping each other company for centuries, and this traditional Catalan chocolate is a particularly good example of why.

Made by Jolonch in Agramunt, Spain, this 60% dark chocolate is flavoured with cinnamon and produced using the traditional stone-grinding method known as xocolata a la pedra. The result is a distinctive, slightly grainy texture rather than the smooth finish of conventional chocolate, with rich cocoa and the gentle warmth of cinnamon.

Jolonch has been making chocolate since 1770, and its stone-ground chocolate is a speciality of Catalonia. It's delicious eaten as it is, but particularly good melted into hot milk for a proper Spanish hot chocolate. The cinnamon makes it especially appealing on cold winter afternoons.
