These are design sheets for nikkō shashin, or sun-printing, made on thin paraffin paper.
The sheets feature designs of heroes, sumo wrestlers, period-drama stars, and other popular characters printed on paper. They were used as negatives for sun-printing: the sheet was placed over photosensitive paper and exposed to sunlight to transfer the image.
Today, they can be enjoyed as a unique collection of vintage graphic designs and nostalgic imagery from the era.
