The Duo is a 3-inch square ceramic pot with a centre drainage hole and a matching saucer, finished with a clean nautical motif that has no business looking this good on a sharp four-sided block. The two-tone finish pairs a raw grey lip with a solid glaze below. Chive designed it for an expensive yacht club in New England, a sentence that explains the coastal theme and quietly raises several questions Chive is not going to answer here.

Getting a nautical look onto a square planter is harder than it sounds, because a pot is a box with dirt in it. And yet the yacht club bought them. The drainage hole keeps water off the roots, the saucer protects the table, and the contrast of raw clay and coloured glaze makes a room feel slightly more expensive than it is.
