The Rothco Physical Training PT Shorts are men's performance shorts built for high-output workouts: running, weight training, and outdoor PT sessions. The shell is 100% polyester, the liner is 80% nylon and 20% spandex, and the side panels are 90% polyester and 10% spandex. Sizes run from Small through 3XL, all in black.
Built to Move With You
The Rothco PT Shorts feature flexible side panels constructed from a polyester-spandex blend, which allows a fuller range of motion than a single-fabric shell. Whether the session involves sprints on a track or compound lifts in a weight room, the panels flex with the movement rather than pulling against it. That freedom of movement is built into the cut, not just the fabric.
Moisture Management Through the Session
The performance fabric blend pulls sweat away from the skin and disperses it across the outer layer for faster evaporation. The quick-dry action keeps the shorts from clinging during high-intensity efforts, which matters both for comfort and for unrestricted movement when training outdoors in variable conditions.
Waistband, Liner, and Carry
An elastic waistband with an adjustable drawstring lets wearers dial in fit without fussing between sets. The boxer-style liner adds support during dynamic movements. Two pockets handle small essentials: a hidden inner waistband pocket for keys or cash, and a discreet pocket inside the liner on the left leg for additional items that need to stay put while moving.

Who This Is For and Isn't
These shorts suit men who train regularly, including military and law enforcement PT, gym sessions, running, and outdoor training, and want a single pair that handles all of it. The size range from Small to 3XL covers a wide range of builds, and the drawstring waistband accommodates fit preferences within each size.
These are standard athletic shorts with no ballistic, stab-resistant, or protective properties. They are not suited for use as duty wear requiring flame resistance, arc flash protection, or any other occupational safety rating.
Common Questions
What are the Rothco PT Shorts made of?
The Rothco Physical Training PT Shorts use a 100% polyester shell for moisture wicking, an 80% nylon/20% spandex boxer-style liner for support, and 90% polyester/10% spandex side panels for added flexibility. Each material is chosen to reduce clinging and allow a full range of motion during high-output activity.
What sizes are available?
The Rothco PT Shorts are available in Small, Medium, Large, XL, 2XL, and 3XL, all in black. A size chart for these shorts is available from Rothco's website under the product name "P-T Shorts - Black." Consulting that chart before ordering is recommended, as athletic shorts sizing can vary by brand.
How many pockets do the shorts have, and where are they?
The Rothco PT Shorts include two pockets. The first is a hidden pocket inside the waistband, sized for keys, cards, or folded cash. The second is a discreet pocket built into the liner on the left leg, intended for small items that need to stay secure during movement. Neither pocket is external or visible from the outside.
Are these shorts suitable for military or law enforcement PT?
The Rothco Physical Training PT Shorts are designed for high-output training and are well suited to military and law enforcement physical training programs. They are athletic shorts only and carry no ballistic or protective rating. For duty or operational use requiring protective gear, separate equipment is required.
