Alfonso D'Estes is a new brand for us this season and it was, in all seriousness, the longest unboxing and check in we've ever had because each and every hat that came out required oohing and aahing and a great deal of gushing. These caps are outstanding.
This 100% linen cap is lined in cotton, making it a breathable option all through the warm seasons. The stripe is a, well, juicy mix of sunny yellow, bright purple, grass green, turquoise, and black on a warm orange background with a yarn-dyed texture. If you were going to take summer and and spin it into a hat like Rumpelstiltskin spinning straw into gold, this would be it.
The shape is a modern newsboy cap - it's not as full bodied as a traditional newsboy, with more fitted sides and no flop. There's a separation between the brim and the body of the hat, which is sewn down (no snap) and has a slightly curved bill. Constructed in 8-panels with the classic button on top, this shape has a tailored, updated fit while holding on to the spirit of the Gatsby era newsboy.
