Below the relief, the body is hammered smooth and even; above it, a plain rolled rim keeps the whole thing from tipping into fussiness. Raised from 16-gauge solid copper, never plated.

Unlacquered, the pattern becomes more legible with time - patina settles into the shadows of the relief first, so the flowers gain contrast rather than fading. Copper is naturally antimicrobial.

Installation needs no cutout - the basin sits over a standard 1.5" hole, making it a straightforward retrofit onto existing stone. Dry the relief rather than letting water pool in it, unless you want the pattern to darken quickly. Avoid bleach and abrasive creams, which will flatten the contrast between the raised flowers and the field behind them.
