When Sofia has to leave home behind, a cloud like a dove keeps watch over her journey.

Sofia’s home isn’t safe anymore. She and her family travel far and long, over the land and under the stars. They walk away from all they know, everything they love, except each other.

Sofia isn’t sure if she can be brave. But every time she looks up, she sees a dove in the clouds, watching over her. Sometimes it takes a lot of looking, and sometimes crowded tents nearly block her view. But the dove is always there with her, all the way to a possible new home.

Carin Berger (In the Night Garden, The Little Yellow Leaf) uses her collage technique to bring soft splendor to this widely applicable story of displacement and hope. In a time when ever more families face similar circumstances worldwide, Sofia’s Journey is a vital empathy read and a soothing anchor in the storm.
