Patches carry a rich history within biker culture: stitched or ironed onto vests, they signaled club rank, achievements, and loyalty and became a wearable record of identity. In 1960s Britain, Mods embraced the same tradition, ironing patches onto parkas and blazers to display music taste and scooter-club pride.
This collaboration draws from this tradition. The graphics draw on mechanical objects found in the motorcycle workshop, a signature approach within Karel Martens' practice.
