Product Specification

AMBER & BLACK TITANIUM COATED STEP DRILL BIT 1/8"–1/2" – 13 STEPS

Create 13 clean, precise hole sizes from 1/8" through 1/2" with a premium M2 high-speed steel step drill engineered for demanding professional and heavy-maintenance work. The Amber & Black design goes beyond standard step-bit construction with a dual-color step system that makes each cutting diameter easier to see while drilling, helping the operator track progress and stop accurately at the desired size. Its 1/4" quick-change shank is optimized for compatible impact drivers while also working with electric rotary drills.

The Amber & Black titanium coating is designed to provide a cooler cut for extended bit life, while the spiral double-flute geometry quickly evacuates chips and helps manage heat during the cut. A self-centering split point minimizes walking for faster, more controlled starts, and the stepped profile drills and reams in one smooth progression without repeatedly changing bits. The result is a premium step drill built around visibility, control, chip removal, and durability when drilling and enlarging holes in thin materials.

Drill Press

  • WEN® 4214T

Other machines with a compatible chuck can also be used. Match the tool’s drilling capacity and speed to your material and hole size, and turn hammer action off on hammer drills.

Safety Tips

  • Wear eye protection and appropriate hearing and respiratory protection. Keep gloves and loose clothing away from rotating parts.
  • Secure or clamp the workpiece before drilling.
  • Keep the bit approximately 90° to the work surface for a controlled cut.
  • Progress through the steps gradually rather than forcing the bit.
  • Use steady pressure and allow the cutting edges to do the work.
  • Select drilling speed according to the material and cutting diameter.
  • Use an appropriate cutting lubricant when drilling metals.
  • Stop the tool before clearing chips; use a brush, not your hands.
  • Do not use hammer action when drilling with a hammer drill/driver.
  • Secure the shank according to the tool’s chuck instructions and check retention before drilling.
