Standard, Split-Head or Split: Which Is Right for You?
One head section and one foot section move together. A simple choice for single sleepers or couples who like the same position.
The head and lumbar are divided left and right, so each person sets their own upper-body position, while the foot section moves as one. Requires a split-head mattress, which is split partway down from the head.
Two complete bases sit side by side, giving each sleeper fully independent head, lumbar, foot and massage controls. Pair with two separate mattresses (2 Twin XL or 2 Cal Twin).
No More Compromising on Position
One of you wants to sit up with a book while the other is ready to sleep. With a split-head size and a matching split-head mattress, each side of the head raises on its own, and the lumbar section adjusts independently too. On Split King and Split Cal King sets, the two bases can also be paired to play the same audio through both sets of speakers.

Is this the new version of the Beautyrest Black Luxury Base?
Yes. This is the redesigned 2026 model (model 700813327). It adds Dual Action Back and Lumbar Support, the Transition to Sleep™ System with rocking and sound therapy, surround acoustic massage, four-color underbed lighting and new split-head sizes.
What is the difference between Split Head King and Split King?
A Split Head King is one base with the head section divided left and right. It needs a split-head king mattress, which is split from the head partway down so each side can lift on its own. A Split King is two separate Twin XL bases placed side by side with two Twin XL mattresses, giving each sleeper independent head, lumbar and foot control.
Which mattresses work with this adjustable base?
Most mattresses labeled adjustable-base friendly will work, including Beautyrest mattresses. Split-head sizes require a split-head mattress, and Split King or Split Cal King sets require two separate mattresses. If you have a mattress from another brand, check with its manufacturer that it is adjustable-base friendly.
Do I need a box spring or foundation?
No. The adjustable base replaces your box spring or foundation. Place your mattress directly on the base.
How much weight can the base hold?
The base is rated for a combined 950 lbs, including the mattress and bedding, when weight is evenly distributed.
Can I attach a headboard?
Yes, with headboard brackets that are sold separately. The base does not have a wall-hugger feature.
Will it fit inside my bed frame?
Usually, yes. The zero-clearance design lets you remove the legs and set the base inside most frames and platforms, or use the 3", 6" or 9" leg heights on their own.
