The unglazed interior of the teapot and the use of iron-rich clay also alleviate the astringency of green tea. The teapot also has a strainer to prevent the tea leaves from entering your cup.

The shallow and wide shape of the teapot leaves ample room for green tea to steep and develop its flavors, making it suitable for POJ Studio's Ten tea. It is the ideal size to brew tea for up to 4 people.

ABOUT THE ARTISAN: 

The Nankei designs are handmade by a family-run business established four generations ago in Mie Prefecture. Entering the business as clay makers and sellers in 1913, the family has deep knowledge of the soil of the local area and how to develop it into clay that is most suitable for pottery. In 1972, they branched out into making teapots of their own.
