Plant Profile
- Growth Habit: A climbing philodendron, that produces aerial roots. Give the plant a moss pole or something supportive for it to grow up.
- Distinctive Features: The leaves feature pale, striking veins that contrast sharply with the plush green surface. New leaves emerge in vibrant coppery-red tones and mature into dark, velvety green.
- Toxicity: Like most philodendrons, it is not considered pet safe.
Care Guide
-
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh, direct afternoon sun, which can easily scorch and damage the delicate, velvety foliage.
- Water: Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. Water when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil feel dry to the touch, and make sure excess water drains freely to prevent root rot.
- Humidity: It thrives in high humidity (50% or higher). Consider using a humidifier or placing the plant in a greenhouse cabinet.
