The Channel Islands Automatic features a playful sea lion that indicates the minutes at the tip of its nose as it swims around the dial, and the jump hour is seen in the kelp below. Illustrated by Kenneth Crane.
What is a jump hour?
A jump hour watch is a unique timepiece where the hour indicator does not slowly sweep across the dial. Instead, it displays the hour numerically in a small window and instantly "jumps" to the next number at the exact moment the 60th minute of the previous hour ends.
