Our Learn to Knit a Hat class is the perfect next step for knitters who are ready to go in the round. Whether you've never knit in the round before or you're returning to knitting after a break, this two-session class will build your skills and your confidence. Led by an inspiring and knowledgeable instructor, the class is limited to just six students so you receive plenty of personal attention. You'll learn new techniques, ask questions, and connect with fellow makers — and walk away with a finished striped hat you'll be proud to wear. The support doesn't stop when class ends — the Apple Yarns team is always here during open hours to help you keep moving forward.

🧶 Who this class is for: Anyone who knows how to cast on, knit, and purl, but has never knit in the round — or someone who wants to be reintroduced to knitting after a break.

Your class includes:

• Two 1.5-hour sessions of instruction and inspiration
• Color-printed pattern for the Rio Hat by Alissa (a striped hat)
• 30 yds. of worsted-weight yarn for the stripe
• A 10% in-store discount card (valid through the end of the last class session)

Supplies needed

Please have all supplies before class — classes start on time. Have your yarn wound and needles ready to go.

• 210 yds. of worsted-weight yarn, wound and ready to knit with. Approved yarns are Malabrigo Rios, Sirdar Jewelspun, Berroco Vintage, and Berroco Ultra Alpaca. Yarn not on the approved list must be approved before class — email shop@appleyarns.com with the yarn name and color.
• US #7 and #8 × 16" circular needles and #8 double-point needles
• 8 stitch markers

The right yarn makes a big difference in how successful and enjoyable your project will be. Our instructors select approved yarns that work especially well for the pattern and techniques being taught. If you'd like to use a different yarn, we're happy to take a quick look — our goal is simply to help you have the best experience possible. In-shop class policies

• Supplies are separate from class fees unless noted. Students receive a 10% discount card for in-store purchases, valid through the end of the last class.
• Please do not reference other online resources during class unless guided by the instructor.
• Minimum age for class is 14.
• Cancellations made at least 72 hours in advance receive a shop credit refund. Cancellations with less than 72 hours' notice are not eligible for shop credit. Cancel by emailing shop@appleyarns.com to ensure proper time-stamping.
• If a student misses one session of a multi-session class, a private lesson with the instructor can be scheduled for an additional fee.
• Only paying students are allowed in the classroom.
• Private lessons can be rescheduled once without an additional fee with 24 hours' notice. Cancellations 24+ hours in advance receive shop credit. No refunds for cancellations within 24 hours.
