Named after Odette, the Swan Queen of Swan Lake, a woman under a spell, swan by day and herself only after dark, first brought to the stage in Moscow in 1877, the playsuit takes its second name from the étoile — the highest rank a dancer can hold at the Paris Opera Ballet, the star the stage is built around. Annie designed it to move in a way that suggests nothing to weigh it down, with light gathering at every edge.
Strapless and cut high over the hip, the Odette Étoile Playsuit is encrusted throughout in degradé sequins running from champagne into silver, the beading laid in vertical lines that follow the panels of the body. A corseted bodice sculpts the waist, while rhinestones edge the straight neckline and trace the long curve of each leg opening. Worn alone, or beneath the Odette Bolero.
