Lacquer finish
The noble Staunton design chess pieces of solid hardwood are made of Acacia wood & Maple. We have switched to Acacia wood due to the ban on Rosewood. The pieces pictured are Rosewood but the Acacia wood will be the set that is sent. The darker wood will look a little lighter in color in line with the frame of the chess board.
