Your cat should be able to turn around fully inside with room to spare. Cats are far more likely to go outside a tray that feels cramped.
High-sided or open?
The high back makes this the better choice if you are forever sweeping litter off the floor, or if your cat sprays against the wall of the tray. If your cat dislikes anything that feels enclosed, or is older and needs a lower step in, the open tray with removable rim gives a lower profile and a wide opening.
Filling it
Fill to a depth of about 7cm. Scoop the clumps daily with the included scoop and top up with fresh litter rather than replacing the lot. Our low dust clumping litter pairs well with it.
