The directed drawing your kids beg for, on the same page as the decodable they need to read.
200+ passages. 2 per phonics skill. Lessons 35 to 128. K–2.
You know the look. It's the third decodable this week and the room has gone flat. Your reluctant readers are done before they start. A couple of kids are guessing from the picture.
Then you say "directed drawing" and every head comes up. They'd do one every day. So would you, if it counted as phonics.
So we put the drawing on the same page. Kids read the story. They answer two questions in their own words. Then they draw, step by step.
They read because they want to get to the drawing. There's no picture of the story to peek at, so the answers have to come from the words. And even the kid who says "I can't draw" ends up proud of what they made.
Every passage uses only the skills your kids have already learned, in the same order as your SOR scope. Every page is labeled. Whatever you taught today, the passage is there, and it ties right in.
Because one runs out by Wednesday.
PASSAGE 1
Read it all week. Small group Monday. Partners Wednesday. Third star Friday.
PASSAGE 2
The check. Center, seatwork, or homework. It's new to them, so there's nothing to memorize.
