Maximum performance wall soundproofing for loud airborne noise — MuteClip isolation, 10kg MLV, and dual acoustic plasterboard combine to deliver the highest level of sound reduction available in our wall range
Resilient clip and channel isolation — MuteClips and MuteClip Channel create a decoupled framework that reduces the mechanical transfer of sound through the wall structure, a key advantage over direct-bonded systems
Suitable for stud and brick walls — the clip and channel system works on both stud party walls and solid brick separating walls, with installation method adapted to suit the wall type
10kg MLV for dense mass — a single layer of 10kg mass loaded vinyl is bonded between the plasterboard layers to add significant mass and improve airborne sound reduction, particularly for music and bass
Two layers of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard — double-layer plasterboard with staggered joints adds mass and rigidity to the finished wall lining
Recommended where direct-bonded systems are insufficient — this system is a step up from the Essential and Plus wall systems and is suited to higher noise levels and more demanding situations
Built-in 5% waste allowance — calculator quantities include a 5% overage to reduce the risk of under-ordering on site
Important Notes
This system is suitable for both stud and brick walls, but installation method and fixings will vary depending on the surface
It is intended primarily for airborne sound reduction
Fixings are not included or supplied by us
Sealant quantities are an approximation only and should be treated as a guide
The calculator is provided as a guide only, and final quantities should always be checked before ordering
This system is more advanced than our Essential and Plus wall systems and is recommended for those with more advanced DIY / construction experience
Electrical sockets and switches should only be removed and reinstated by a qualified electrician
Fixings Required
MuteClip direct to wall – Hammer Fix Plug & Screw
MuteClip to stud frame – 5mm x 60mm Wood Screw
1st plasterboard layer to channel – 32mm Fine Thread Drywall Screw
2nd plasterboard layer to channel – 50mm Fine Thread Drywall Screw
Preparing the existing wall and ensuring it is sound and free from defects
Marking out and fixing MuteClips in the correct positions for your wall type
Fitting MuteClip Channel horizontally into the clips (including correct overlap where required)
Installing the first layer of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard, leaving a small perimeter gap
Sealing the perimeter with AC95 Acoustic Sealant
Bonding the 10kg MLV to the plasterboard using contact adhesive and taping joints
Installing the second layer of 15mm Acoustic Plasterboard, staggering joints where possible
Sealing the perimeter again with AC95 Acoustic Sealant before finishing
The completed wall can then be skimmed or tape and jointed ready for decoration.
