7mm thick. We tested 6mm. We tested 7.5mm. 7mm is the right thickness for the biggest range of workouts.

High-density padding to keep you safe. Every 1 pound you weigh, your knees feel the force of 3 pounds of pressure when you take a step. And that’s just while walking. Intense workouts add way more pressure on the knees. And this is why the amount of thought that goes into what materials to use really matters.

Can be used with shoes or without them.

All of these mats are about ¼-inch (7mm) thick and they are best suited for couples, kids, men, and women. Anyone who loves to workout at home will find these exercise mats very useful. Low-quality mats will save you a lot when it comes to price but they won’t last and of course, there is an issue of slipping or even at times getting stuck.

Building high quality large exercise mats really matters

With a workout like mountain climbing:

A low quality mat might take a beating for the first few months but will start showing stress marks after a few months of use. Even if you don’t do mountain climbing today, who is to say you will not be willing to try it in 6 months once you reach the right condition level?

This wide exercise mat is 7mm thick

That's not just a random number. We tested 6mm. We tested 7.5mm. We worked with 20 pound weights, we did burpees, we worked out with a skipping rope. 7mm is the Goldilocks number: thick enough to offer the perfect support, not too thick where the mat gets too bulky.

In order to develop the perfect extra wide and extra large workout mat counter-intuitive engineering is needed. For example, the mat needs to provide an impact cushion while also being dense enough to handle the weight of your weight bench. When scientists are given these types of requests, their heads explode. It’s a hard balancing act. We literally had to scrap dozens of prototypes in order to develop the mat you’re looking at this [morning/afternoon/evening].

Also, it should be mentioned, because the mat is 7mm thick it helps with noise dampening.

Injuries have a nasty habit of appearing without warning

Every day, there are more than 10,000 people treated in emergency rooms for injuries stemming from sports, recreation, and exercise. And thanks to Covid, going to an emergency room isn’t an attractive option. A better option is to just minimize the risk of injury.

Our knees take a beating

-- Every 1 pound you weigh, your knees feel the force of 3 pounds of pressure when you take a step. And that’s just while walking. Intense workouts add way more pressure on the knees. And this is why the amount of thought that goes into what materials to use really matters.

If you workout 3 hours a week that means you are abusing your workout mat 100+ hours every year. You need a mat that can handle that load while also being gentle to your body.

Wrists aren’t spared, either

Exercises that require you to drop (like burpees) add a lot of pressure on the wrists. Your wrist needs to land on a cushioned surface.

Your knee isn’t connected to the neck directly but it is connected via a complex web of connectors from head to toe. If you’ve ever pulled a calf muscle only to realize, after a few days, uncomfortable hip pain you know what we’re talking about. The right mat isn’t just protecting your knees and wrists, it’s protecting your entire body.

How big is 6 x 4 exercise mat?

This is a large fitness mat. And that means you can workout with a partner and have more options to incorporate workouts like Plyo and MMA into your future routines.

Loves all surfaces, even carpets

We talked about injuries earlier in this article. This is why you don’t want a mat that moves around. We’ve developed a printed design under the mat to prevent mat movement:
