The skies were still gloomy on my second day of the Overland Track. Heading deeper into the Tasmanian wilderness late in the season, there was hardly anyone left on the trail. The second day of the walk was probably the most manageable, in contrast to the strenuous first day. It was a quiet walk in light rain to the edge of Lake Windermere, where all remained silent, lights dimmed, with a stillness so jarring it seemed creatures must surely be waiting and lurking beneath. More on the journey here.
