A momentary burst of colors across Cradle Mountain at sunset.
The first day of the Overland Track in Tasmania would have been one of the toughest days even in good weather. We did not have such luck, and had to contend with the wind, rain and fog from the start till late in the afternoon. Much of the promised views and landscapes were obscured by the weather. Cradle Mountain was supposed to have featured heavily through most of the day, but till then we had not yet caught a glimpse of any of it. As dusk approached, the sky cleared up suddenly, and the last rays of the sun fell across the fields and mountains at just the right angle to light it up in all its brilliant colors. The peak was still well hidden in the clouds, but the moment was sufficiently magical. Then, as quickly as the scene precipitated, the last rays of the sun slipped behind the mountains to herald the start of a long night. More on the adventure here.
