The meaning

Most fears are bigger before you face them than after. The front of this coin points at the reward: once you become fearless, life becomes limitless. Nobody is fearless all at once. You get there one faced fear at a time.

The back carries one of the best known lines about courage: everything you want is on the other side of fear. The coin adds a last push. Fear is an illusion, or at least it is usually much smaller than it looks.

The design

The front shows a single face split down the middle: on one side a bearded man, on the other a lion, both looking straight at you, framed by fine scrollwork. The back puts the word FEAR in heavy letters at the center, with the rest of the quote around it.

On good days and hard days

• On good days, it pushes you to say yes to the next bold thing instead of settling into comfort.
• On hard days, when fear gets loud, it gives you something solid to hold and a line to repeat: everything you want is on the other side. Take one step through it.

Carry it

Keep it in your pocket for the moment before: before the speech, the jump, the call, the door. Hold it, read the back, then go. One customer wrote that it is an excellent, well crafted coin they plan to add to their everyday carry.

Give it

One grandparent gives their grandsons a different coin for every Christmas and birthday, and this was one of them. It is a good gift for someone about to do something that scares them, from a first presentation to a first solo trip.

Specs

• Diameter: 1.54 in (39 mm), about the size of a silver dollar
• Thickness: 2.7 mm
• Weight: about 1 oz (28 g)
• Material: brass alloy (Antique Silver, Antique Bronze) or solid copper (Antique Copper)
• Made: die struck, minted in the USA
• Each coin is antiqued with a special patina so it looks like it has already been in circulation. The patina never settles the same way twice, so no two coins look exactly alike. Small variations in color and shading are normal, and they are what make your coin one of a kind.
