Front: “Be grateful every day” · “Appreciate what you have”
Back: “Never let the things you want make you forget the things you have.”

At a glance

  • Theme: a thank you you can hold
  • Good for: a daily gratitude habit, Thanksgiving, thanking someone who helped
  • Gift for: a teacher, nurse, mentor or employee, a graduate, your partner
  • Finishes: Antique Silver (brass alloy), Antique Bronze (brass alloy)
  • Size: 39 mm, about 1 oz, die struck in the USA

The meaning

A lot of unhappiness comes from comparing: the car you don't have, the job someone else got. The back of this coin catches that habit in one line: never let the things you want make you forget the things you have. Wanting more is fine. Forgetting what you already have is the trouble.

The front keeps it short: be grateful every day, appreciate what you have. Easy to read, harder to practice, which is exactly why it helps to carry it.

The design

The front shows a lotus flower opening on rippling water. The lotus grows out of mud and still blooms clean, so in many traditions it stands for growth and calm. The back sets the quote inside a ring of small flowers.

The lotus front also appears on our Equilibrium Coin, Mint Mule Edition, where the mint paired it with the back of the Audentes Fortuna Iuvat Coin.

On good days and hard days

  • On good days, it helps you notice and enjoy what you already have, instead of rushing past it.
  • On hard days, when you feel you don't have enough, it reminds you to count what you do have. Never let the things you want make you forget the things you have.

Carry it

Each time you touch it, name one thing you are grateful for. One customer gave it to someone working through addiction, who keeps it in his pocket and looks at it many times a day. Another put theirs in a pocket the day it arrived.

Give it

One customer gave it to their nephew at his graduation party, another to their daughter as a kind reminder, and a parent plans to hand them to their kids with a handwritten note. As a thank you for a teacher, nurse, mentor or employee, it lasts a lot longer than flowers.

Specs

  • Diameter: 1.54 in (39 mm), about the size of a silver dollar
  • Thickness: 2.7 mm
  • Weight: about 1 oz (28 g)
  • Material: brass alloy (Antique Silver, Antique Bronze)
  • Made: die struck, minted in the USA
  • Each coin is antiqued with a special patina so it looks like it has already been in circulation. The patina never settles the same way twice, so no two coins look exactly alike. Small variations in color and shading are normal, and they are what make your coin one of a kind.
