Lion’s Mane Made Enjoyable

Functional mushrooms do not need to make your daily routine complicated. Our Lion's Mane Chocolate pairs concentrated Lion’s Mane Dual Extract with a familiar chocolate format, giving you a simple alternative to loose mushroom powder, Lion's Mane mushroom coffee, or  Lions Mane tincture, etc.

Instead of measuring Lion's Mane powder or using a dropper, our Lion’s Mane Chocolate does not require any mixing or measuring. That makes it easy to take whether you are at home, at work, or traveling.

What Is Lion’s Mane?

Lion’s Mane (Hericium erinaceus) is an edible functional mushroom known for its unusual cascading and shaggy white spines, which resemble a lion’s mane.

It has a long history of culinary and traditional use and has become one of the most recognizable mushrooms in the modern functional mushroom world.

Today, Lion’s Mane is sold in many forms, including dried mushroom powder, extracts, Lions Tincture Mane, Lion's Mane mushroom gummies, capsules, gummies, chocolates, etc.. Our chocolate uses a concentrated lion's mane dual extract in an easy-to-enjoy format.

Why Dual Extraction?

Mushrooms contain different naturally occurring compounds that respond differently to extraction methods.

A dual-extraction process uses both water and alcohol extraction. The purpose is to obtain a broader spectrum of extractable mushroom compounds than relying on only one extraction method. Water-soluble and alcohol-soluble compounds can be addressed through separate stages before the extracts are brought together into the finished ingredient. Many extracts are using only one extraction method.

The word “extract” on a mushroom product does not always tell you whether the material was produced through a single extraction or a dual extraction. We’ve seen plenty of Lion's Mane coffee where we have trouble from the label seeing whether it is a dual extract or not. We identify ours as a Dual Extract so customers know the process that the extract has gone through and what extract they are getting.

Lion’s Mane Extract vs. Lion’s Mane Mushroom Powder

Not all Lion’s Mane products are processed the same way.

Lion's Mane powder, if not specified- is often non-extracted, and that is generally produced by drying mushroom material and grinding it into a powder. An extract undergoes additional processing intended to pull soluble compounds from the mushroom material and concentrate them.

Our Lion's Mane Chocolate contains 600 mg of Lion’s Mane Dual Extract per Chocolate rather than providing only ground mushroom powder. We also balance the profile with 150 mg of Lion's Mane powder.

Effectively Designed

Our Lion’s Mane formula brings together fruiting body extract, mycelium extract, and is rounded off with a bit of fruiting body powder. The fruiting body and mycelium extracts provide concentrated forms of Lion’s Mane, while the addition of Lion's Mane powder provides another form of the mushroom material alongside the extracts to create a more comprehensive formula.

Lion’s Mane Fruiting Body & Lion’s Mane Mycelium

To understand why a Lion’s Mane formula may contain both fruiting body and mycelium, it helps to understand the mushroom itself.

The fruiting body is the visible mushroom most people recognize. In Lion’s Mane, it is the characteristic white, shaggy structure. The mycelium is a different part of the same organism: a network of fine, thread-like structures called hyphae that grows through the mushroom’s growing medium.

Although fruiting body and mycelium belong to the same organism, they are not chemically identical. Different naturally occurring compounds have been identified in different parts and developmental stages of Hericium erinaceus. Products like Lion's Mane coffee may have components of both or one or the other.

Why Choose Lion’s Mane Chocolate?

Lions Mane tincture and Lion's Mane mushroom coffee can be useful formats, but chocolate has a different design and you be the judge of which masks the mushroom taste better. There is also the simplicity of no powder to scoop and no tincture to measure.

Taste and design are two large avenues that brought us to Lion's Mane chocolate. We have delicious chocolate and we believe this masks the mushroom taste well. We designed our product around the mushroom, instead of the other way around. So the delivery method, the chocolate, had to align with our goals. Since we use real chocolate, it has cocoa butter, this is a natural fat and  it serves as a delivery system for the mushroom compounds. The Lion’s Mane cocoa combo was intentionally chosen.

If you  want a functional mushroom product that you can actually look forward to taking, functional mushrooms chocolate can be an appealing option. The Lions Mane chocolate serves as an enjoyable and approachable way to get started and serve as a flexible swap for capsules on those days when you are craving something delicious and want to knock out taking your Lions Mane at the same time. When one of our Lion's Mane Mushroom Extract Capsules don’t fit the moment,  you can reach for a Lion's Mane Chocolate.

Premium European-Style Chocolate

Our Lion's Mane Chocolate, Milk Chocolate is crafted with real chocolate containing 39% cocoa. Our chocolate is a European-style chocolate that delivers a delicious flavor that is not too bitter or sweet. Our functional mushrooms chocolate can be great for both chocolate enthusiasts and those that simply love milk chocolate. We also balanced the lion’s mane cocoa and ingredients with many iterations to fulfill the goal of having what we believe to be a good amount of extract in a non-chalky finish. While many conventional chocolates substitute vegetable oils for cocoa butter, we have real chocolate with cocoa butter in our functional mushrooms chocolate for a more premium chocolate experience.

Each chocolate is individually wrapped, making it easy to take with you, keep at your desk, at home, or on the go. If you have tried Lion's Mane coffee , tried a different product, or are interested in Lion’s Mane, our chocolates are a delicious option.

Third-Party Tested

We do third-party lab testing to test for quality and purity, so you can feel confident about what’s inside our Lion’s Mane Chocolate. When purchasing other items such as a Lion's Mane tincture or Lion's Mane mushroom coffee we suggest that you always check to see if they do third-party testing.

When comparing Lion’s Mane products, we encourage customers to look beyond the word “extract” and consider the extraction method, ingredient transparency, and available testing information.

A note from Vero

I found Rooted Fox Wellness at Spirit Fest, where our booths happened to be right across from each other. I was blown away by their products and fell in love with them. We even have very similar fox logos, so connecting on our products just made sense. I'm adding them to our site to help spread the word about a really good product.
