With its tachymetre bezel and three-register chronograph dial, it became one of the most coveted wristwatches ever made, a design that has stayed recognisable for more than 60 years, from early references like the 6239 to the modern Daytona. The platinum version marked a milestone: the ref. 116506 debuted at Baselworld 2013 for the model's 50th anniversary as the first serially produced platinum Daytona, pairing an ice-blue dial with a chestnut brown Cerachrom bezel, before the ref. 126506 took over in 2023.
