'Airlines' transforms the familiar marks left behind by airplanes into an almost abstract study of movement across the sky. Twelve litres of thick blue paint are spread diagonally across the diptych using oversized brushes and steady movements, while fine white lines cut through the surface, tracing the paths of tiny airplanes overhead.
The idea emerged from looking up at a sky riddled with white trails, inspiring a simple play on words - Airlines. The work sits somewhere between abstraction and reality, where sweeping lines of paint gradually reveal themselves as a familiar scene in the sky.
