'Head in the Clouds' explores the space between physical escape and inner reflection. A small biplane hovers above a sculptural white cloud, suspended within an expansive, textured sky.
The work is a personal meditation on the idea of having your head in the clouds - not as a state of distraction, but as an invitation to disconnect, reflect and imagine what lies ahead.
The piece also pays homage to Bram Bogart, whose use of densely applied, self-made paint was an early influence on Werner’s artistic practice. Here, that influence is reinterpreted through Werner’s own language of texture, atmosphere and flight, transforming the cloud into both a physical landscape and a space for contemplation.
