Question 1

What is a tile frame?

Accepted Answer

A wood frame sized to hold a printed tile. You press the tile, then seat it in the frame, so the frame never goes near the press.

Question 2

Which tile does it fit?

Accepted Answer

The 6 by 8 inch frame takes the 6 by 8 tile, which fits a standard portrait crop. It is the heaviest frame case at roughly 39 pounds.

Question 3

Why sell a framed tile rather than a bare one?

Accepted Answer

A framed tile sells for several times the price of a bare tile, for the cost of the frame and a minute of assembly. It is the single easiest margin improvement in the tile category.

Question 4

How does cherry compare to the other wood?

Accepted Answer

Cherry is the darker, redder wood and suits warm and traditional interiors. Pecan is lighter and browner and suits neutral and farmhouse styles. Customers choose by the room, so carrying both converts better than carrying one.

Question 5

Does the frame go in the press?

Accepted Answer

No. Press the tile alone, let it cool completely, then seat it. A warm tile can mark the frame.

Question 6

What temperature and time should I press this at?

Accepted Answer

As a recommended starting point, most of our blanks press between 370°F and 400°F, with time depending on how thick and dense the blank is. These are recommended settings only, not fixed rules. Temperature and time work against each other: a hotter press needs less time and a cooler one needs more. Every heat press runs a little differently, so press one test piece and adjust for your machine. Our sublimation time and temperature chart lists settings for 20 blank types.

Question 7

What finishing do I still need?

Accepted Answer

The frame handles display, so no easel back or hanging hardware is needed on top. That is part of why the framed version is worth the step up.

Question 8

Who buys tile frames?

Accepted Answer

Photographers selling framed prints, gift shops and boutiques, and memorial and remembrance businesses. Grandparents Day photo gifts: puzzles, tiles and frames

Question 9

Which occasions drive them?

Accepted Answer

Q4 gifting, Mother's Day and Father's Day, Grandparents Day in September, memorial commissions year round, and realtor closing season. Bulk Christmas gifts for employees

Question 10

What does a case contain and weigh?

Accepted Answer

100 pieces at roughly 39 pounds. What to compare when choosing a blanks supplier

Question 11

Should I stock frames alongside tiles?

Accepted Answer

Yes, matched to the tile sizes you already carry. A customer who sees a framed sample almost always takes the framed version, so the sample does the selling.

Question 12

Does this make a good Christmas keepsake gift?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Photo jewelry boxes, pendant necklaces and framed photo tiles are usually bought as the main gift for a mother, grandmother or partner, and they keep selling through Valentine's Day and Mother's Day. Our photo keepsake gift guide shows which keepsake suits which buyer.
