The seed of Heart On A Wire was planted almost by accident, at an art festival near Miami in late 2022. "I was playing a festival once and somehow ended up in what I can only describe as an 'acid circle' with a load of hippies," recalls Elderbrook, the Grammy-nominated British multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer-songwriter. Made to state an "intention" before the ceremony began, he mostly found the whole thing insufferable — until one stranger's answer stuck with him. "One girl said something that completely stayed with me. She said, 'I want to reconnect with a more childlike version of myself.' And despite feeling the whole ceremony was ridiculous, I couldn't stop thinking about that sentence." Years later, without quite meaning to, he'd taken her advice. Heart On A Wire, Elderbrook's newest album, out Jan. 29, 2027, via Ninja Tune imprint Counter Records, is the result.
