Orion 930 Shallow and Deep Wood Moisture Measurement
Dual depth pinless wood moisture meter readings on the Wagner Meters Orion 930 let you check wood at either 0.25 in or 0.75 in with no pin holes left behind. The adjustable backlit display makes readings visible, and the press-to-hold button keeps a measurement on screen. A paired On-Demand Calibrator is included for field calibration.
Orion 930 Depth Selection and Field Calibration
The Orion 930 has selectable measurement depth and species settings across a specific gravity range of 0.20-1.0 SG. Wood moisture content readings span 4.0% to 32.0%. That range varies slightly by species setting, so check the setting for the wood you're measuring.
- Select the measurement depth — Switch between 0.25 in shallow mode and 0.75 in deep mode to suit the wood you're checking.
- Check wood without pin holes — The pinless sensor takes non-invasive readings inside the wood across a 2.0 x 2.5 in scanning area.
- Keep the reading visible — Press-to-hold keeps the measurement on screen. Adjust the backlit display to change the lighting behind the readout.
- Recalibrate in the field — Use the supplied paired On-Demand Calibrator to recalibrate the meter without returning it to the factory.
- Read without temperature correction — No correction is needed for wood or ambient temperatures.
- Check other materials in relative mode — Use the 0-100 scale for drywall, plywood, OSB and MDF. These relative readings are separate from wood moisture content percentages.
Orion 930 Applications for Flooring, Woodworking and Inspection
Flooring installers can use this dual depth pinless wood moisture meter to take shallow or deep readings on residential or commercial jobs without making pin holes. For cabinet work and other woodworking, the species settings booklet helps you set the meter for the wood you're checking. Building inspectors, restoration contractors and facility managers can check drywall or wood-based panels in relative mode, which uses a separate scale. The Orion 930 works with the Wagner Meter Reach Extender and carries a 7-year warranty.
